About the Season
A reclusive music icon is dead. A magazine writer was there. Five people had motive.
Episodic Theatre Project presents WHODUNNIT, a five-episode serialized murder mystery set in a Joshua Tree compound where legendary folk singer Rowan Skye Wolf dies at her 50th birthday party. Magazine profiler Anna arrives to write about Rowan's comeback, only to become entangled in the investigation surrounding her death.
Over five consecutive Thursdays, audiences return to witness the unraveling of relationships, secrets, and decades-old wounds among Rowan's inner circle: Matt, her former bandmate and current manager harboring unrequited feelings and a terminal diagnosis; Sugar, her estranged daughter grappling with abandonment; and Tony, the young social media manager trying to revive Rowan's career. As Anna investigates what really happened that night, each episode peels back another layer of the toxic relationships and hidden motives that led to Rowan's death.
Each 60-minute episode is written and directed by a different creative team, yet all five share a single through line developed collaboratively. The result is a theatrical experience that combines the episodic storytelling of prestige television with the immediacy of live performance. Each episode is designed to be self-contained but is encouraged to be watched in succession, with recaps ensuring audiences can follow the complete mystery even if they miss an installment.
Five episodes. Five suspects. One truth about the long way home.
